Kitchen cleaning tips

Letting your kitchen grow dirty makes it more difficult to clean! Here are some quick tips on how to clean your kitchen and appliances.

Wipe the surfaces

Wiping your kitchen surfaces doesn’t have to be a long and tedious task. Grab your favourite kitchen cleaner spray, or make one of your own, and spray down your kitchen counters. Leave it for a minute and then wipe down with a cloth! Alternatively, you can use anti-bacterial surface wipes for a quicker clean.

Soak your dishes

Here’s a tip – after using utensils and dishes, let them soak in the sink for a while. You can even let them soak while you eat your food, then get to them after you’re done. This softens any stubborn bits of food and, if you have a dishwasher, then there are less likely to be remains of food on your dishes after they’ve been washed. If you wash dishes by hand then this makes the job easier for you, too!

Freshen up the microwave

Cleaning your microwave can be easier than you think! One method proves particularly popular, and it doesn’t require any nasty chemicals. All you need is a microwave-safe bowl, some water and a lemon! Simply place half a cup of water into the bowl, cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the water. Place the lemon slices inside the bowl too and microwave for 3 minutes – let it sit, without opening the door, for 5 minutes. This softens any hard bits of food inside and makes it easier to wipe down – it smells great, too.

Clean the toaster

Your toaster is bound to get filled with crumbs from toast, and it can be easy to forget to clean it out every once and a while! It’s simple to do – unplug the toaster and take it out to the garden, turn it upside down and gently shake out all the crumbs. If some remain these can be removed by using a paintbrush. Be sure to clean the tray if your toaster has one, too.
